Guidance for Thresholds & Transformation

I help guide women through the thresholds of their lives with a lot of empathy and a little magic, especially through matrescence—the transformational period of becoming a mother.

Meet the Founder of Common Wonder

Hi, I’m Raegan.

I’m a mom of two, a writer, and a tarot and astrology reader in Austin, Texas. I’ve spent over a decade with the cards and the stars, and the question that keeps pulling me back is the same one every time: who are you becoming?

I believe life is made of thresholds, the moments when one version of you ends so another can begin. Becoming a mother. Turning 30 (or 29 for the eleventeenth time). A wedding, a divorce, a loss, a leap. These moments deserve more than just surviving through them. They deserve to be noticed, honored, and understood.

That’s the work I do.

Why mothers

My favorite people to sit with are new and expecting moms. Becoming a mother cracked me open in ways no one prepared me for. I lost parts of who I was, found new ones, and cried a lot over ordinary moments. There’s a word for that transformation, matrescence, and I created Common Wonder so other women have a space to move through that threshold with support, ritual, and someone who truly gets it.

How I read

When I sit down with the cards or your chart, I trust what comes through and share it honestly. I use these tools (and a bit of magic) to help you make sense of a reading in a way that’s grounded and useful in your real life. You won’t get vague fortune-telling or scary predictions from me. You’ll get perspective, language for what you’re feeling, and a clearer view of your next step.

Beginners, skeptics, and lifelong believers are all welcome here.

A few more things about me

I write about parenthood and purpose. I believe ritual is how people have made meaning for thousands of years, and that the magic you’re seeking is already within you.

You don’t have to have it all figured out to be in the middle of becoming something beautiful.

My Services

Sometimes those stories are found in history, in symbolism or in ritual. Sometimes they emerge while naming a child, watching a toddler’s soccer practice, reading a novel, or just sitting quietly with a dog on your lap and a question in your heart.

My writing is a place for reflections on purpose, parenthood, and partnership. You’ll find essays exploring the patterns in everyday life that make living meaningful.

This month, I’m launching the Common Wonder Book Club, a virtual book club on motherhood, spirituality, and meaning.

Some books give us words for what we’ve felt but never been able to express. This book club is a place to find those words together.

Each month we read one book, alternating between thoughtful nonfiction and novels with a little magic in them. We gather online for discussion, a tarot pull to help frame the conversation, and close with a simple intention for the month ahead.

Come as you are—audiobooks absolutely count, babies are always welcome, and you certainly don’t have to finish the book to join the conversation.

Joining is free. Subscribe to the Common Wonder Substack to get each month’s pick, the meeting link, and a short reflection on the book before we meet.

Our first read is Matrescence: On Pregnancy, Childbirth, and Motherhood, by Lucy Jones.

I started writing about Common Wonder because I’ve always been drawn to the stories we tell to make sense of our lives.
